![]() ![]() It probably isn't the smartest thing for me to do, but I've been chipping away at all of the issues and addressing requests roughly 16 hours a day, on average. ![]() It's probably surprising to noone that Rambox is full of bugs. I noticed a lot of issue reports were randomly closed upstream within the last year but weren't addressed, that I'm having to figure out what someone was trying to do when they wrote something and how it's actually supposed to work. Despite getting no commits since May, and them leaving critical security vulnerabilities totally unaddressed while tracking via Google Analytics, it's been clear that the upstream code has been in a state of disrepair for an extended period of time. To be blunt, given the sad state of the upstream code, yeah. It might be a good one, but for now I'll keep searching :) Is there a (next best thing) as alternative? Thanks!Įdit: Added link in the title, stupid idea, mods: feel free to change the title! I already added the link to the contents of this post.Įdit 2: Apparently Franz (which was closed-source) has been open-sourced, so I'll try that one out again.Įdit 3: I just tried running Franz 5 beta, and I was greeted by a login window I cannot avoid. Why I can see that the developers want to make money, as do I, I don't think it's good for open-source as they have an incentive to leave features out of the community edition and into the paid version. I recently got a notification that they are making a free community edition and a paid pro version ( ). ![]() I hate to swap back and forth to desktop applications because some random dude wants to use a fancy chat app. I use Rambox a lot, as it combines many different chat apps to a single app and let's me use them all at once.
